About Me
Hello Students, Parents, and Educators!
My name is Danielle Nourani, and I love teaching English to High School students! Working with teenagers is fun and rewarding, because this age group is a passionate and determined one. Writing can be tough and close reading can be challenging, so my goal as an English teacher is to find ways to ease the reading and writing process for my students. I create a supportive learning environment by incorporating my students' interests and passions into our daily curriculum, so that students can practice their writing skills in ways that are meaningful and ultimatly make sense to them. As for my background, I received my bachelor’s degree in Literature and Writing with an emphasis in Writing from California State University of San Marcos, and I am currently a teacher candidate in CSUSM's Single Subject Teaching Credential program. I teach two English 10 classes, as well as assist in an AVID and Honors English classroom at Carlsbad High School. I taught two English 11 courses at Vista High School, Fall of 2015, where I worked closely with students of all different needs and backgrounds. Prior to the credential program, I was a substitute teacher for three different school districts in North County, working with students of grades K-8. I believe in fostering students centered classrooms that promote the use of technology to enhance English curriculum. My goal is to provide students with the skills and tools necessary to be college- and career-ready. I create lessons centered around student choice and student reflection, so that students develop opportunity for personal growth and exploration of their passions. I strive to provide students the tools to be self-sufficient life-long learners, who leave my classroom with a stronger love for reading and a more confidence in their writing skills!
When I'm not teaching...
I live in San Diego and love trying different restaurants all over the city and county. I love the ocean, and try to get my toes in the sand at least once a week. I enjoy running, hiking, surfing, and snowboarding. I spend a large portion of my summers surrounded by the redwoods of Northern California and in the forests of Oregon exploring rivers, hiking trails, and camping spots. At home, I have a large Moroccan family who I spend a lot of time cooking with. They have taught me to love and value the joy of food. This summer, I am off to Spain to explore the Tapas of Barcelona, Granada, and Seville!
